ROYALS PITCHING DOMINATES GAME

Pitchers Walk 0 of 21 Batters Faced Over Five Innings

Updated Friday May 25, 2018 by Jeremy Campion.

In what was certainly their best performance of the year, the Royals knocked off a previously undefeated Angels team and did it with pitching and solid defense.  Over a five-inning game, the Royals saw only 21 Angels batters and didn't walk a single one of them.  It all started with Luis who went three full innings in only 44 pitches, beginning with a three-up, three-down inning that featured two strikeouts and a tremendous defensive play by Hasan at the shortstop position.  From that point, the great pitching and defense just continued, as Charlie came in throwing strikes and impressively snagged a hard line drive to finish his inning of work.  After assuring his coach that he could "ice the game", Jimmy came in and closed it out, with another three-up, three-down inning.  This one featured two unassisted outs by Ethan who already had one earlier in the game.  Hudson, Alexander, and Andrew all recorded outs in the field, as well, hauling in the throws at first-base.

The Royals also brought plenty of offensive power.  Jimmy had three RBI and a double, while ĘżUmar had two RBI and a triple.  Hudson also doubled and had an RBI, to round out the power hitting for the Royals.  Andrew, Alexander, Luis and Dominic added hits for the Royals, the latter two scoring three times each.

The Royals will look to follow up their season-best performance with a big set of games over Memorial Day Weekend, beginning Friday at Northam.
